Developing the Whole Child

The Music program is one or two times a week depending on the age of the students. The overall goal is to provide lots of opportunities to explore music in different ways. Kids sing songs, play games and explore instruments to experience many different musical concepts. Units of study include Vocal Exploration, Instrumental Exploration, Musical Opposites (Fast/slow, loud/quiet, high/low), and Steady Beats.

The goal of the Physical Education Department is to promote a healthy lifestyle helping students develop appropriate skills for their age level. Through units of study such as Team Building, Chasing Games, Soccer, Throwing/Catching, Hitting/Striking, Basketball, and Swimming, students develop important skills while learning good sportsmanship and teamwork.

Through a growth mindset approach, the elementary Art program explores what it means to be an artist and to create a work of art. The elements of art that are studied throughout the program include, line, form space, color, shape, value texture, drawing, painting, ceramics, weaving/textiles and sculpture. Students also focus on evaluating, reflecting, and assessing their artwork through the creation of portfolios.

The Language Arts / Arabic program at Riffa Views International School is split into Native and Non-native classes that focus on creating an understanding and appreciation of the richness and complexity of language through the integration of reading, writing, speaking, and listening.
The Arabic Department encourage reading both in and outside of the classroom and strive to create a community of proficient readers. We also invite each student to experiment with language to develop a unique voice and a passion for the written word. As the students’ progress through the grades, they are exposed to content and skills that build on their prior knowledge and move them from concrete to abstract thinkers.

Early Childhood students enjoy the Library for a 30 minutes every 6th school day. The intent is to develop a love for reading at an early age. Students are read to in a comfortable group setting, often infusing topics related to regular classroom instruction. At the end of each lesson, students have the opportunity to check-out books to read at home with their families.

Muslim students attend Islamic Studies classes for 45 minutes once every six days. The goal of the course is to give students a basic foundation of their religion to help promote and create balance in their physical, mental, and spiritual lives. The students will study specific units related to Quran, the Prophet's Seerah and Ahadeeth, Aqeedah, fiqh and Ethics. By the end of the course students will feel they have a stronger connection to Allah and Islam, as well as have a good understanding of how to be a better Muslim
